Winter coats are an item that for some are completely necessary and for others not a huge part of your wardrobe, given your geographical location. I fall into the latter category. Texas, central Texas specifically, doesn’t get too cold and when it does it never lasts more than a couple of days at a time. Our Winter’s are brief and all over the place temperature-wise so a winter coat has never been a high priority for me. Layer on a light jacket over a few chunky knits then avoid spending too much time outside and I was good to go. In Texas at least.
I bought this BCBG coat a few years ago for a Christmas trip to NYC, with every intention of buying a coat that would be worn for more than just this vacation. I decided to go for a longer, belted style for added warmth, knowing this bad boy would only be accompanying me on my coldest trips (if there were any more) and stayed with black because well, it’s super versatile and it’s me. Plus, it had a very tailored, standard cut and if you invest in a true classic coat it’ll last you years to come.
