The world may be under self or government mandated quarantine but that doesn’t mean that we have to be deprived of culture. Inspired by Art Basel Hong Kong’s recent conversion of their shows to virtual galleries amid the Coronavirus pandemic, I decided to share some of my favorite museum moments from the past year, complete with a virtual tour.
I had the chance to visit Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, Germany when on vacation there for Oktoberfest in 2018 so the art on display now may differ just a bit.
I visited the museum on a brisk Sunday morning, right as it was opening and just a couple hours before I was to catch my bus to Switzerland. Being one of the largest museums in the world for modern and contemporary art, it was one I was not going to miss! I even made it a point to book a hotel within walking distance to ensure that I had time to stop by.
The museum was stunning, the grand stairway and sweeping glass roof rotunda are hard to ignore. Each room offered an eccentric mix of art on display. There was everything from antique cars and furniture to large sculpture work and even famous Andy Warhol pieces.
Keep scrolling for some of my favorite pieces that were on exhibit when I visited!
When is the last time you visited a museum? I challenge you to incorporate more museum visits into your routine once this Covid-19 lockdown is over with.
I hope you guys enjoyed this short museum visit and if this is something you’d like to see more of let me know in the comments below!
