Brunch is my favorite meal, by far. Any other day you decide to start drinking by noon you’d get the side eye, hard, but not during brunch. It’s basically expected for you to order that cocktail or mimosa. On top of that, this is the one meal where you get to truly feel un-judged by crossing meal borderlines. You know what I mean, the variety of tablescapes are endless. One table may have croissants, eggs benedicte and pancakes whereas the table right next to them will be feasting on steak and eggs, crab remoulade and french toast. And hell, you may want to taste a little of it all. Judgement free mealtime y’all, that’s what brunch is all about.
I had been dying to try Le Politique since it first opened and finally made a point to get over there for brunch. The restaurant is beautiful, exactly what you would expect from a French inspired restaurant with the outside littered with the cutest tables and chairs. Typically I would dine al fresco especially during brunch but it was a chilly 45 degrees the day I went so I saddled up at a barside table. The dining area was expansive and I’ve heard the dinner service is top notch. I almost always try a restaurant’s brunch when going for the first time, don’t ask me why because I really couldn’t tell you. I’d assume it’s because it’s harder to disappoint me during brunch, I’ll eat almost anything and always want a sweet savory balance.
Remoulade de Crabe Mouth wateringly fresh. Oh my, this was probably some of the freshest crab I’ve had in Austin in some time.
Pain Perdue Moist French Toast that literally melts in your mouth topped with a sour cream, or well a cream that has a sour tang to it. So yum!
Benedicte Parisian ham, poached eggs, roasted tomato, English muffin, sauce hollandaise served with pommes rissolees or skillet potatoes if you’re not French.
