Hey loves, how was your weekend? Mine was just what I needed, the perfect mix of socializing, resting and my all time favorite, trying new things.
I live in Austin, TX you guys, 110 people are moving here each day and with the overnight surge in population a great number of new eateries are popping up literally everywhere. It almost makes the additional traffic bearable, almost.
Now, I rarely talk about local restaurants or hangouts but today I just have to, please excuse me, I am not a foodie just someone who really loves good food. So, the boyfriend and I went to dinner Friday at one of the newest restaurants in Austin, Lonesome Dove, to say I highly recommend it is an understatement. It is amazing! Located right downtown it’s perfect for a pre night out dinner or even after work dinner and drinks like we had.
I started with this extremely refreshing Jalapeño Cucumber Margarita, I order a variation of this drink basically anywhere I see it on the menu and this one here, top five in Austin, hands down. Jake (the boyfriend) had the Sarsaparilla Old Fashion which is made with this Sarsaparilla Root Beer that was definitely an original twist to an old fashion. We had very different ideas on drinks but were pretty much on the same page when it came to the food. We shared the Elk-Foie Gras Sliders (because we’re extremely fancy like that) that seriously melted in your mouth and Deviled Gulf Coast Blue Crabs that were mixed with this really delicious seasoning and then stuffed back into the shell, yum. For our entrée we had the Roasted Garlic Stuffed Beef Tenderloin with Western Plaid Hash and grilled Asparagus, our plates were cleeeeaan, which I seriously didn’t think would be possible with all of the pre-eats. Oh, Oh my gah, I almost forgot my favorite part, we got a side of carrots with our entrée and they were roasted with goat cheese, lemon and honey. Seriously the best tasting carrots that I’ve ever put in my mouth. I want them all of the time! Forever.
*I seriously wish I had gotten some more pictures of inside, but my Iphone pics don’t do it justice.
For dinner I wore this white vest (here) that I decided to pin in a few choice spots in order to wear it as a wrap dress. Loved it. You know those nights you go out and you feel really great and then you start getting a ton of compliments? This was that night! Which was perfect since it was also date night. Everybody deserves a good ego boost of a night, am I right? Sometimes all it takes is a little white dress (or a makeshift one) and a red lip.
Expanding my palette one restaurant at a time!
