Nowadays, it seems like you hear about a restaurant or bar’s photogenic qualities even before you hear whether or not the food is actually good. Taquero Mucho was no different. I had seen so many photos on Instagram and story after story talking about how everything at this cute little spot is pink, from the decor to the tortillas. But I still had no idea whether it was actually tasty or not?
Ok I had a bit of an idea; the restaurant is owned by the same team behind Gabrielas on E. 7th street, so I assumed it would be just as delicious.
Before I get in to the food recap I gotta mention the decor. There’s a reason all I had heard about was the pink overload prior to going. EVERYTHING is pink! It’s truly no exaggeration, I’m talking pink tortillas to pink chairs. Besides the cutest green, tropical wallpaper, expect pink everywhere, even in the bathroom.
That being said, it’s still a great date night spot and shouldn’t be somewhere you only go with the girls, contrary to what you’d think. The drinks are strong and there’s nothing girly about the menu.
Speaking of the menu, Taquero Mucho just launched a brunch menu this past weekend!
Unpopular opinion in 3, 2, 1…I don’t like queso. Yeah, yeah, let it sink in.
I don’t like queso so I always opt for guacamole when it’s available and this has made me quite the guac expert. The guacamole at Taquero Mucho passes the test. It’s fresh, flavorful and the chips along with it are perfectly seasoned and crisp.
The cocktails at Taquero Mucho are strong, there’s no other way of putting it. The House Margarita kicked my butt. Pictured above is the El Chapo y Kate and it’s a passion fruit margarita with a tamarind coated straw, it was amazing. I even took the straw with me to go. The flavor brought back so many memories of eating those spicy watermelon lollipops growing up.
Everything I ate at Taquero Mucho was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and easily shareable. I highly recommend trying the Elotes, Taquitos de Papa con queso and the Sopes de Arrechera if you don’t know where to start!
Have you been to Taquero Mucho yet? I can’t wait to go back and try their brunch now that it’s launched!
