This Airbnb in Isla Mujeres is easily one of my top 5 favorite Airbnb’s that I’ve stayed in thus far. It was authentic, whimsically decorated and charming, centrally located and sprawling. I was obsessed the minute I walked through the abnormally heavy front door.
I mean, I walked in to the photo pictured above, how could I not have been? Everything from the rustic wood floors to the cement style walls were screaming, “Hi, I’m a super authentic Mexican home and I’m stunning!” and I was all like, “Yeah, I seeeee youu!” If you read my last post, covering all things Isla Mujeres, then you know I was having some trouble finding the exact spot we stayed but I told you that I wasn’t giving up and give up I did not! Traveling with a large group of friends is great but it can also get hectic and overwhelming if it isn’t planned out well. One of the easiest ways for that to happen is by not having enough space. There is nothing more frustrating than feeling on top of one another. Throw in being hot, hungry, irritable and it’s an immediate recipe for disaster. Small, cramped spaces make people crazy, it’s a fact. That’s one of the main things I loved about this home, even though we were a group of 8 we all had our own space and then some. To be honest we had too much space, but better more than you need than not enough, right?
The home is separated into three levels and has 5 rooms with 6 bathrooms. Six bathrooms! Nobody had to wait on anybody to get ready, I mean we still had to wait on people but not for lack of showers or mirrors and vanities. On top of that we also had our own private spa/pool on our deck and rooftop, which, did I mention had both city and ocean views? Well, our main rooftop, that’s right we had two.
Each room came with it’s own en suite bathroom, flat screen TVs and outside access to a private balcony overlooking the street. One thing that was both a gift and a curse was the fact that each bedroom door locked with a key that you could use on either the inside or outside to lock the door, factor in friends from high school and needless to say people were locking each other in rooms as jokes. But when we left for the day I felt especially secure that my things were safe. Which is such an important thing when you’re traveling with a DSLR and multiple laptops. Security is everything.
We all spent the most time upstairs on the rooftop. There’s an entire outdoor kitchen up there that was perfect for prepping our fresh caught fish and getting in a few games of beer pong. Plus, there’s a cool bar located right across the street that played music loud enough for us to enjoy up there. Then there’s the views, 360 views, you see the entire island from up there! All things considered, the decor, location and service from the host, this Airbnb easily makes my top 5 list. Check out more details on this space, or rent it here: Isla Mujeres Airbnb
