Unless you’ve been living under a rock or just avoiding all things fashion, you’ve seen this Bottega Veneta quilted leather mule. It’s ‘the’ shoe. A must once warmer weather reappears, a Spring staple, and of course, a budget breaker.
Unless you have a cool, extra $1300 to spend on a fabulous new pair of mules you’re probably not paying much attention to the original but God does it deserve our attention. It is a stunning shoe, angular and complex looking, though simple in design. The bulky quilted, woven leather played up by the stark contrast of the style of shoe its on. I mean come on, how often do you see a winter style like quilted leather on a very obvious Summer shoe? It’s genius!
After falling in love with this shoe then having a quick meeting with my bank account I set out to find the best dupes available. It’s all that the budget will allow at the moment, but luckily I was not disappointed. Not only did I find similar styles, I found them in a range of color and heel heights too. My favorites being this white style from Miss Lola and these black ones from Pretty Little Thing that are almost a dead ringer and still available in most sizes. Grab them in baby blue here for the ultimate Spring vibe or try a play on the style in this criss-crossed, white Topshop pair which also comes in yellow and some non-quilted styles too.
So, do you think you’ll be hopping on to the quilted mule trend?
