July in Review

August 1, 2017

Bye, bye July

What a month! I think I ate my way through a small army’s amount of brunch, have Austin Eastciders coursing through my veins and have tried to wear a tee-shirt under just about anything and everything. I used to do monthly Instagram round ups, sharing outfits that hadn’t made it to the blog and I decided to start doing them again but including events, questions you guys have DM’ed and fun moments now too. If you have any fashion, food, travel, beauty, instagram-related questions-whatever email them to me at Sylvia@fixintothrill.com and I’ll be sure to include them in next month’s round up!

The month started with an impromptu road trip to North Padre Island with the boyfriend for a day at the beach, lots of restaurants and fireworks over the bay. I got a ton of DM’s about this outfit I posted to Instagram during the drive. I wore this red jumper that I bought over a year ago from Topshop and for some reason never got around to wearing last Summer, that’s why it isn’t linked to the exact match. (I’ve been wearing it almost non-stop this summer though!) It’s so comfortable, the back is pretty open so I decided to layer it over a cropped tee for a more casual look. Here are a few styles that I think would look great thrown over a tee shirt:

On the 11th the 2nd Street shopping district welcomed their newest neighbor, socially conscious brand Esperos Soho. The brand funds a year of education for every item sold and features a range of classic leather goods that will have something for you and everyone you know. I personally am swooning over the Bucket Bag, the Petite Pack and of course my new clutch in dusty rose.

I finally made it to brunch at Tiny Boxwood’s Austin location and tried Chia Seed Pudding for the first time. I’ve been looking at variations of this style of breakfast on Pinterest and was thrilled to see it on the menu. Paired with a croissant, iced coffee and a mimosa, it was the perfect start to a busy Saturday. I’ll be sharing a full post on Tiny Boxwood’s soon!

So many people asked about these jeans after I posted this photo on Instagram, aren’t they so fun? I’m glad you guys love them as much as I do! They are from Zara and I actually scored them on sale for under $25 y’all! I’ll share a full outfit post soon as I’m sure these will get a lot more use in the Fall-when the temperature drops a little.

I started using this Simplicity dual pump moisturizer and serum at the beginning of the month in place of my normal routine after securing a collaboration with the brand. I’ve been gifted a lot of skin care products or makeup in the past and honestly if it’s not something I love I won’t post about it.  Because I’m not a Beauty Blogger stuff like that just doesn’t jazz me up the way clothes do, that’s not my realm of expertise or interest. I will however post about a product that absolutely wow’s me when it comes to beauty, so if you ever see a beauty post (sponsored or not) just know that it’s a product I stand behind 100%!

Redbull hosted events are a guaranteed good time. This event was Redbull’s induction to their new summer flavors. The venue was Austin Motel and featured Deep Eddy Vodka, Jo’s hamburgers, Cold One’s Popsicles. Summer vibes were free flowing with live DJ’s, free haircuts & styles, one on one yoga classes and much more….

I also attended Parkside’s July Summer Social with Chefs Wayne and Danielle Van Steen of Crossroads on Barton Springs and I’ve been recommending it to anyone that will listen. This is a three course (six snacks) & three cocktail tasting soiree set in an ultra laid back but social setting, on the rooftop overlooking 6th street. The final event is Sunday, August 20th with Chef Lyle Bento of Southern Goods (Houston), get your tickets here.

Austin Eastciders in my can and on my phone-clearly I have a favorite. I also clearly have a trend I’m hopping on to full force. So many of my little black dresses have been given new life with a simple tee thrown underneath. Plus this trend has been seen on the Fall 2017 Runways in shows like Creatures of Comfort and Cinq a Sept to name a couple.

NATIVE-HOSTEL-AUSTIN-WHERE-TO-STAY-WHERE-TO-EAT-DRINK

Native Hostel is this really cool new spot on the east side of Austin that is part restaurant, part bar and part hostel. I went last month for a “Ciders and Sliders” event thrown by Do512 and Austin Eastciders and have been back 3 times already. It’s one of my new favorite places to grab a burger or to have a couple beers with friends.

July was a hot but quick month, full of food, fashion and fun. Leave a comment below and tell me what you did in July or are going to do in August!
