So, I finally attended my first Miami Swim Week. I say finally because it’s been a dream of mine since I was about 16 years old and used to stay up late to watch runway shows on Style Network. There’s something about runway shows that has always gotten me fired up. Knowing that you’re seeing a collection first, before it hits the racks and more importantly before anyone is wearing it is just so exhilarating. Swim week in particular has always called to me because well, for one, it’s in Miami (need I say more?) and two, growing up swimwear was always a hassle to shop for so I dabbled with the idea of designing my own swimwear one day (had sketches and everything) so I’ve always been interested in seeing the new designs.
Night one I hit the ground running with the Planet Fashion Runway shows being put on at the Loews hotel in Miami. There were presentations from Lascana Collection, Antiqua Collection, Paramidonna Swimwear, Lion and Wild, Akosha Swimwear and Roberto Cavalli. My photos weren’t the best quality but check out the video at the end of the post!
Saturday I spent most of my day getting lost in the endless suites and stations that are Cabana Show. It was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I was in complete fashion overload. In addition to two huge tents set up in Collins Park Cabana Show also encompassed the entire third floor of the W hotel, with each individual suite set up for different brands to show their latest collections. Some of the collections that I’m the most excited about for next season have to be Onia Swimwear, Palm Swimwear, Mar y Sol and Clube Bossa.
One of a kind, custom prints
Muted, vintage color palettes
One pieces aren’t going anywhere
Details are everything
Fun activewear
High waisted and high cuts
I was in love with this little see thru number from Onia. Like, couldn’t walk away. It’s so cute!
Sunday I finally made it over to the Coterie Pop-Up, one of the more technologically interactive exhibits. The Coterie Pop-up was housed in the same place the Museum of Ice Cream had recently been and like the former exhibit also had quite the photo opts, like a huge teepee that was set up in the middle of the courtyard. Everything in the Coterie Pop-up was available for sale and that was risky you guys, I wanted so many things. If you watched my stories while I was out there you know I was beyond obsessed with a small white pineapple bag that was as much as a months rent.
The last night was epic, so epic that personal photos and videos are hard to come by-I was just so in the moment! It all started at the Setai, which is one of the most beautiful hotels in South Beach (if you ask me) for the debut of Fashion Palette Miami Swim Week, a show comprised of VDM the Label, TJ Swim, Lil & Emm, and Aqua Blu, all Australian labels. Though they presented together, each of the collections were totally unique and carried their own individual vibes. This was one of my favorite collections of shows from the weekend. There were far less prints and patterns and more of a focus on fit and inventive cuts. Well, the Aqua Blu collection was filled with prints but they were well welcomed and don’t even get me started on the flowing dresses, OBSESSED!
After the Fashion Palette presentation we went to the SI Swimsuit runway show at the W hotel and it was absolutely insane you guys. Besides tons of bad quality iPhone photos/videos I was hardly able to get any coverage. Most of that will be located in my Miami Swim Week highlight on my Instagram, along with a bunch of other BTS shenanigans. Highly recommend checking it out!
I hope you guys like this recap video, leave me a comment here or on Youtube and let me know if you’d like to see more videos! I do have Paris Fashion Week coming up in under two months!
