Out With the Old in With the New: Try-On Room Inspo

If you’ve followed me for the past few months then you know that the decor bug has bitten me. I’m pinning to my Pinterest boards and I’m trolling decor blogs, like the CORT blog for inspiration.

On top of that I’ve been slowly “decluttering” my house room by room. Clothes, shoes, and accessories are getting sold on resell sites and furniture is being listed to be sold left and right.

What you don’t know, or what I’ve been being tight lipped about, is that there’s actually a reason I’m downsizing so significantly. I’m moving!! That’s right, 2020 is officially the year that I finally leave Texas. I’m going to stay a little secretive about where but in due time I promise to give you all of the details! In the meantime, here’s what I can say about the move.

Most of my current stuff will not make the journey alongside me, the decor is youthful and not necessarily my style anymore and honestly, most of the pieces are cheap. It’s long overdue for an update. I work a lot from home, very visible work at that. If I’m doing a try-on session while packing for a trip you see my entire room behind me in the mirror. It, in all senses, is a reflection of me and my brand and yet, it no longer reflects my personality much at all. So it’s time to be out with the old and in with some new!

Luckily I was able to find most of the things on my wishlist at the CORT showroom in my new city! keep scrolling for my try-on room inspo board for an idea of where I’m going with it!

A few things I want to update in my try-on room:

• Decor- I want to get rid of the super colorful, “young” pieces of art and quotes for pieces that are more my personality and taste in art. I’m very proud to be from Texas (as are most of us Texans), I’ve long wanted to incorporate more of a ‘Southern flair’ into my home. This rug from CORT would be the perfect touch and would help to remind me of home.
• New Mirror- Hello! This is so imperative, it’s my try-on room, I can’t do much without a mirror in there and the one I currently have in there is needing to be retired STAT. It’s very narrow and extremely old, I feel like no matter how many times I windex it there are still spots…I just can’t anymore! I really like this leaning, wood framed style or maybe this black one from CORT.

• Seating- Right now there’s no seating in my try-on room, when I start editing or posting I usually just sit on the floor or come downstairs to my living room. I am dying over this chaise that I saw in the showroom!
• Plants- Partly because I just love the look of living plants everywhere, partly because it’s a 2020 resolution to grow more.
• Storage- I need a new clothing rack and maybe a dresser because I keep all of my Poshmark items in that room along with new items that need to be styled/shot for my blog, so it can get a bit crowded.

Knowing that most of the items I’ll need are available for rent at CORT make moving seem so much less stressful. I can’t wait to share my move, home reveal and new decor with you.
