I don’t know what you’d classify my style as as of late: I truly think that my style tastes have changed with the times along with my taste buds, a natural occurrence I suppose.
The high school me was a total prep in all A&F everything, destroyed jeans, short denim skirts, khaki bottoms and not because I was working part time somewhere but because I chose to wear them, ew! Then there was a short time when yes, I did sport the double popped-collar look. I’m not proud of myself. The old, old me (early 20’s) was super glam and trendy-think heels, fake eyelashes, hardcore cleavage, teased hair (because Texas, duh) and super long nails. Then the more recent old me was more casual with a menswear twist, lots of blazers and monochromatic looks in classic shapes and not a lot of heels but tons of oxfords, Sylvia circa 2016. But lately, y’all I don’t even know where to begin…first of all I’m all over colorful prints, BRIGHT, colorful prints. I like tennis shoes now, when did that happen? I wear a couple tops sans bra-unheard of in the past! OK in all fairness I only did it on vacation. AND I’ve stocked up on graphic tees, never have I ever really worn graphic tees. Now, I see a top with a cute catch phrase or my one true weakness (apparently) on clothing, a cat, and I’m sold. It’s the craziest thing!
The only consistent thing in my life is my love of a good classic handbag. There’s something about a structured, beautifully detailed purse in a staple hue that catches my eye every single time. My Radley London Primrose Hill Satchel is a prime example of a classic handbag that you can count on to be stylish years from now. The color, the tasteful, minimal hardware and shape while all being “on trend” aren’t so trendy that people will get nostalgic if you pop it out a decade from now.
I’m in love with the size of this purse, it’s that perfect in between size that fits everything you actually need to carry (and then some) but doesn’t look strange to wear with dressier looks. Plus, I’m a huge fan of having touches of hardware on my handbags, it’s chic, but sometimes it can get so heavy. Am I right? I love that this bag has that eye catching hardware right in the front (which really plays up the shimmer of the logo if you ask me) but no other heavy pieces to worry about and if it does get too heavy I have a cross body strap too. Boom. I love this purse. So while my clothing trends are changing faster than most people’s leases are over, one thing will always be true about me, I’m a classic handbag kind of girl.
